Why Doesn't My Crexi Listing Always Look the Same on Google?

Sometimes you may notice differences between your Crexi listing and how it appears in Google search results. This article explains why that happens and what you can expect.

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It’s the process of making website content easier for search engines like Google to find and display.

Google controls how and when listings appear in search results. Crexi makes listings as search-friendly as possible, but the final display is determined by Google.

To support visibility, Crexi:

  • Adds listings to category pages (e.g., /retail/CA) to help Google understand content in context.
  • Publishes listings in our sitemaps, which act similarly to a table of contents for our website, to guide Google in finding and indexing pages.
  • Enhances the invisible “metadata”, “behind-the-scenes” content outline for a webpage, that Google uses when ranking pages.
  • This includes helping Google read key details like price, location, and property type to better display in search results.

Why does Google show outdated information about my listing?

When you update a listing in Crexi, changes are live right away on our site. Google updates its results on its own schedule. Until Google re-checks (“crawls”) your listing page, older details may still appear in search results.

Crexi makes updated information available to Google immediately when listings are created or changed. However, Google does not guarantee how often it crawls or how quickly it reflects those changes in results.

Why isn’t my listing at the top of Google search results?

Google rankings are based on many factors, including:

  • Relevance of a page to the exact search terms.
  • Freshness and completeness of listings and content.
  • Overall competition from other sites and listings.
  • Google also considers location, so results can vary based on where a person is searching and local trends.

It’s normal for listings not to appear first in search results, even if they’re active and accurate on Crexi.

How long does it take for Google to update?

There’s no guaranteed timeframe. Google typically re-checks sites like Crexi every 1–4 weeks, though updates to existing listings may appear sooner.

How can I help improve visibility?

  • Keep your listing details complete and accurate.
  • Update your listing whenever information changes.
  • Share your Crexi listing link directly, or add it to websites or profiles you manage—this helps Google discover it faster.
  • Use clear, descriptive property titles (aim for 50–60 characters, including location, property type, and key features).
  • To see if Google has indexed your listing, search site:crexi.com "your property address" in Google. If it shows up, it’s been indexed.

Summary

  • Updates made in Crexi appear right away on our platform.
  • Google may take additional time to reflect those updates in its search results.
  • Crexi takes technical steps to optimize listings for search engines, but rankings and refresh timing are controlled entirely by Google.
  • A complete listing with accurate information, clear location details, unique property features, and high-quality images has the best chance of performing well in search.
